Subject: Promotion of indigenous/local products in Government offices and official functions – reg.
In pursuance of the action points emerging from the 5th National Conference of Chief Secretaries regarding Atmanirbhar Bharat and Swadeshi, and with a view to strengthening local economy through promotion of indigenous products, the Government of Mizoram hereby emphasizes the use of locally produced goods in all Government offices and official functions.
2. All Departments, Offices, Educational Institutes, Boards, Corporations and other Government agencies are hereby directed to actively promote the use of locally made products in Government programmes, meetings, conferences, training programmes and other official events. This shall include, wherever feasible, use of locally produced items such as plates, cups, bottled mineral water, juices, tea, coffee and other consumables.
3. Preference shall also be given to locally manufactured or crafted items in procurement for Government offices. This includes furniture, furnishings, partitions, curtains/purdah, gift items and other office requirements, subject to availability, quality and compliance with applicable standards. 4. The above direction shall be implemented in consonance with the provisions of rule 8(b) of the Mizoram Procurement Preference Policy for Micro and Small Enterprises, 2025, which mandates that all procuring authorities shall procure a minimum of 25% of total annual purchase of products or services from Micro and Small Enterprises located in Mizoram.
5. Further, rule 8(e) of the aforesaid rules mandated that every possible effort should be made to prioritize procurement of goods and services from manufacturers within the State of Mizoram, rather than opting for manufacturers outside the State.
6. All Administrative Heads and Heads of Departments shall ensure strict compliance of the above instructions to ensure promotion of indigenous products at the State level thereby supporting local artisans and producers.
7. Any relaxation from these directions shall be put up to chief secretary with full justification.
8. This has been issued with the approval of Hon'ble Chief Minister.
